Re: 64' Dodge 440 max wedge

I'm not sure why you are saying to "cut Steve some slack". We answered his questions. No static or negativity was stated or implied. No derogatory statements were made. It seems to me that some people got their feathers ruffled over nothing. I thought the purpose of this group was to help each other out with the facts.

I don't want to see Steve get "had" by someone if they are trying to misrepresent a car. Best he knows the truth, for his own protection.

For the record I could care less about the "correct reflector" crowd. I have a factory 318 65 coronet which now has a hopped up 413 in it. I love it. It is not for sale and I will drive it till I die.

The important thing is not to get "had" by the numerous unscrupulous "max wedge" "a990" people that have recently surfaced. Also to not mistakenly misrepresent your car to someone else. It is up to us to watch out for each other. That was my only goal in answering Steve's questions.

Nobody said anything negative about 4 door cars either, so I am not sure where that BS came from.

Cut Steve some slack. I met him last month, he is 16 years old and trying to keep up the history and tradition that is "Mother Mopar". He is young, but very knowledgable for his age. I am sorry I got the McCandless and Mancini wrong. Both M's and big Mopar guys. I got the story mixed up about the lightweight front end too. I am sure that Steve will find out all the correct info on his car witth the clubs help. I have learned tons since I started a few months ago. Hang in there Steve. When do you get to drive that beast down the track?
Thanks

Steve, don't be sorry about anything. You obviously have questions about
your car.I'm just trying help.I certainly don't know everything. If Dave
O or Sherwood K. have anything different to add,it would be great.

Speaking for myself, the numbers on your car don't code out correctly. It
still may be a Maxie car, but the jamb tag got replaced sometime in it's
history with that of a Polara. There were no Post Polaras built. There's
no other way I could explain it.

In the absence of a build sheet or fender tag,the IBM card you have is
probably for a Polara if you used the VIN from the door jamb to get the
card.
