Destruction of Old Cars

Hello All;
 It has been my experience that many old cars are destroyed, or at least
made worse, by well meaning people who intend to restore them but never "get
around to it". At the same time they can never quite come up with enough
sense to part with it , turning away many an interested party at the door,
and leave them to rot away in a field. By the time they part with they, in
may instances, they have essentially little more then a parts car.
 The other major destructive cause, in my area at least, are wannabe hot
rodders. They pick up a nice original car or truck someplace and before you
can say angle grinder start ripping the thing apart because some lousy hot
rod mag inspired them to do so. Of course, before they are halfway through
it, they  figure out that the ones in the magazines were built by pros, with
a $50k and up budget,
that they don't have the means to finish it, and quickly abandon the
project.
 What is unfortunate is that they figure that whatever incomplete "work"
they have accomplished adds to the value of the vehicle and price it at
about double the cost of an unmolested car. Of course no one buys it so the
car just sits there and rots, as no one wants to pick up where he left off
in building his hot rod, and his asking price makes it unfeasable for an old
car guy to put it back to stock or use the body to restore another car. In
both cases the cars end up becoming too far gone and end up in the hands of
a scrap dealer.
