spark plugs

Thanks Dave! I'll try them next. hate to buy anything German at this point (or French either) but apparently American manufacturers have forgotten about quality.I can remember when we swore BY Champions, not at 'em!!

I put Bosch Platinums in my 94 Dakota before I went to Korea for a year and it fired right up and ran great when I came back.  I now have 100,000 miles on the same plugs and they still look and perform like new, I get 24mpg around town now and that's with the V-6.  I also have them in the 360 I am going to install in my 81 Imp this summer.

Subject: spark plugs

Hello club!

I hate to beat the subject of reliable spark plugs to death, but need to offer some observations. I long ago swore off Champions, although they were my favorites during the early fifties when I was a flathead Ford enthusiast.
I installed a new set of Autolites in my '55 Imp last Fall, and when I started it up this Spring there was a noticeable miss.
Pulled the bad plug, which had no actual miles on it. Went back to my parts car, a '56 with a broken block that hasn't turned in thirty years. Pulled another badly gummed up plug, full of rust, and wire brushed it clean. It worked perfectly. I have done this  six times so far. These are old Autolites. Obviously something has gone wrong with the quality of these plugs in recent years. I haven't tried AC plugs, but suspect the same thing is true about them. Is there ANY plug on the market that will work after non-use for a season? I suspect the porcelain is of poor quality. I only have two old plugs left!!
