Yeah, there is a guy on the C-body list who just cut the entire roof off of his car, from just behind the windshield to right before the rearwindow, the car had no noticable sag at all, the (4) doors opened and closed just like before. It was a '68 Chrysler New Yorker (methinks). I'm sure your car will handle it, but make sure you cut nice and neat to make it easier to have boots made to cover the edges etc. You might want to call around to some convertible companies and ask their techs about how THEY would go about making a removable hardtop or a convertible softtop for it.
