Sawing tops off (Tristan)

Tirstan,

I cut off the top of a 1971 Continental Mk III 2 door.
The car handled it fine, and I never bothered with a
top (you are serious, aren't you?). I rear-ended a
Honda and had an olds rear end me. Damage was not
worse than if the car had been whole, and the Honda
got totaled when my front hit his back and smushed him
into the car in front of him. His Civic measured 17
inches shorter than when new. A hammer, Bondo, and
Earl Scheib's finest work fixed everything.

(Yes, I can drive OK, thank you. A girl stopped
suddenly from 65mph on the center of Bay Bridge to
retrieve a piece of paper that had blown out the
window to "avoid getting a littering ticket". She
left braking skid marks in the process.)

I recently read Kerry's 73 saga and his mental debate
about cutting tools. I used a circular saw with a
metal blade and then an angle grinder to sculpt the
remnants. The headliner caught fire on the sparks
when I went across the visor area of the roof, so have
yer garden hose ready.

I have seen a 1965 and 1966 Imp 4D cut down with no
apparent problems, but that isn't your year, and I'm
not an engineer.

Send pictures but not blame once you get up the gall
to do it!
