That is the first thing I check before proceeding with any old car that has been sitting. If it won't crank with the starter, I turn it over by hand, and go from there. Usually they turn, but sometimes they don't. It sounds like all of Mark's other cars have side terminal batteries, so if the new battery doesn't correct the situation, he will be wasting his money since he probably can't use it in one of his other cars. Usually, batteries can't be returned for a refund, either.
Didn't another post suggest that the battery was tested and it was okay? Merry Christmas! Best way it to install the jumper battery. ---- Mark Elliott wrote:
Rather than throwing a bunch of parts at the car, is there a way to test the relay/starter to see which may be bad? I imagine I can take the battery to somewhere that sells batteries and have them test it, however, after sending the email, I realized that I could connect one of my known good battery to the Imperial using my jumper cables, and when I did it, I got no change, so I presume that the battery probably isn't the problem in the case (though it probably is a problem waiting to happen).
