You need to know which starter you have and which alternator.  The droid at
Sears (nice droids, but droids nonetheless) knows nothing about your car.

Try Napa, and tell them how many amps your alternator is rated for.  Also
tell them whether you have the stock starter or the mini-starter.  Bring
your old battery with you so they get the right shape and size, plus you
will pay no core charge going out the door and save yourself a trip back.

The biggest drain on your battery is starting the car.  If you drive your
Imperial in winter, it's even more of a drain.  You need lots of cold
cranking amps, especially with the stock starter.  I recently put a 650 CCA
battery in my lesser Mopar (still a big block), and it's just barely good
enough in our fine northern California weather.

I'm just curious when the time comes that you need a new battery for your
Imperial how you decide which one to buy. For example, you go to Sears &
you
see all sorts of price ranges & sizes of batteries on the shelf.
        You tell the clerk what year Imperial its for & they look it up.
You
think they are going over to the largest battery they have. Probably not.
The one they usually want to sell you looks like it was made for a small
car
with no power accessories. Do you go with this, or simply state you want
the
largest battery with top posts that they make?
