Get used to using the trip odometer.  I have a 66 2 dr and have had everything rebuilt. I still don't trust the guage.  I got it to work pretty good(full to empty), but sometimes it shows wierd readings.  I fill mine up every 200 miles or so from the trip odometer reading.
