Re: fuel injection suggestions?

l've done quite a bit of research on this subject cuz l wanted to do it to my car.  l didn't do it cuz my disability has gotten worse, lost my job and ended up on disability.  So here's my honest opinion on the subject.
First off, DO NOT buy the MSD EFI.  They have probably the shittiest system out there.  Reason l say this is cuz they use their own sensors for their unit.  This means if you blow a sensor, let's say a TPS for argument's sake, you MUST send the throttle body back to them (all their sensors are integral except the temp and O2 sensors. Most or all aftermarket EFI kits are like this now).  They then "determine" whether or not it was "user fault" or their shitty, homemade sensor's fault.  l'm not kidding.  They seriously make you send the whole throttle body back, charge you whatever the sensor is worth plus shipping both ways.  l called them out on that being just idiotic on their forum (l joined their forum to get other guy's opinions and real life testimonials on the product shortly after it came to market).  They then proceeded to insult my intelligence and about a week later, after calling them out on another issue that l saw other people complaining  about on their forum, they banned me from the forum.  So needless to say l will not be buy ANYTHING with an MSD logo on it.

Secondly, l think pretty much any other company would be a safe buy.  Currently, in my opinion, you have four reliable companies to choose from.  FAST, Holley and Fitech, with Edelbrock coming in fourth.

With Holley and Fitech you don't have to worry about mounting an ECU anywhere cuz it's all integrated in he throttle body itself.  And all three use off the shelf sensors by  GM.  Meaning if your MAP sensor goes you can literally walk into any parts store and grab one, unlike the MSD pile of garbage.

Fitech is unique from all the others cuz you don't need a CDI box to run it.   Yes, your stock ignition system will work.  You can go on youtube and see videos of this.  They also make a two barrel version for guys who don't want a four barrel.  They also make a six pack set up and many other products such as intank fuel systems, power adder systems for boost or nitrous and a host of other products.

Personally, if l was still going to put EFI on my car, l'd lean towards Fitech.  l haven't seen/heard many complaints, they have a big variety and, as l said, you don't need an MSD style ignition.  Although, you might need to from points to electronic ignition as that l'm not sure of.  The one bad thing l've read is that their customer service can be hit or miss, but it's like that with damn near everything.  Hope this helps.
Cory

Subject: fuel injection suggestions?

I am posting this question for Bill S. The email was misdirected.

One of our Canadian members was looking into this EFI swap a while ago but I don't know if it happened.
Thanks,
Gary H.
