Good thought, but the factory had all kinds of ways to get things done. I
would guess the entire K frame, suspention, and engine, was assembled before
the body was set on. The Service manuak says to torque all bushungs with
the car on the ground. . I could ( but don't want to) loosen everythinkg
and do it that way. Manual doesn't say why to do it that way. Like was said
earlier, maybe to center the bushings in their travel. If I do loosen
everything, I'm not sure the bushings would be able to turn back to no load
position. Anyone actually have experience with torqing down with no load
weight on the suspension? Any problems?
Thanks....................................MO

When originally installed do you think it was on the ground? I'd say it
probably was on a lift coming down the line... Jm2cents...

I would think the reason to not torque them un loaded is the rubber in the
bushing would be slightly twisted when set on the ground. See no reason u
couldn't loosen and retorque them on the ground.
