NNNoooo.....Take off the horn bar(button) and
you'll see the steering wheel hub with 2 threaded holes on it. Get a steerinfg
wheel puller kit, find the bolts that fit into those holes, and use the puller
to remove the wheel from the steering shaft.

Removal
One of the things I'm scratching my head over is finding the
right place to pull it from. It's a '64 Plymouth sport wheel, so it
has a double horn ring. Pulling in the edges of the ring isn't good
because it moves, and it's hard to get in between the ring bars and the back
of the wheel. See the attached pic. By the way, this is
a pic of the wheel we restored
before we started working on it.

Steering Wheel Removal
Harbor freight usually has them for around $10 if you want to add
to your tool collection,,,,,,,

You
need a tool with the catchy name: "steering wheel puller". :)
You used to be able to "rent" them for free at some parts stores.
(There is also a handy tool called a "Steering Wheel Lock Plate Remover
and Installer" too if the future calls for additional Mopar blood
letting.)
One tip is to loosen but leave the nut on the steering
shaft until the wheel "pops" loose. Otherwise you risk mushrooming the
threads at the end of the shaft. (Don't ask me how I know.)
LOL
Congratulations on the steering wheel reconditioning
too!
