Don: I think you are right about the early A318's, but later LA
318 engines were almost always tied to a 904.
Even 340 and 360's had mostly 904 transmissions in the 70's with the LA
engines. I think this engine was ID'd as a 1975 LA 318. Good engine, but
pretty pedestrian.
