Re: '65 426 wedge

Thanks Don. Trust me on the throttle cable bracket. Junkman Jerry out of Florida sold me a mint condition one for my 65 that was for a 4 speed...$175.00!!!!!!!! The automatic brackets were $85 bucks. I do not think there is another to be had. I looked for years to find one and came up empty. I too would assume the 361 and 383 would work.

On another note. The guy backed out of buying my 65, so I guess it is still a future project. I really would have been sad to see it go.

The other Don is correct. All that stuff is chrome. Note that the air cleaner is the unsilenced unit which means no snorkel and the carb plate is small so as to allow the air to come in from the bottom of the air cleaner unit (under the
cover).

Good catch on the throttle cable bracket. That would seem to be true for a 361
and 383, also. Others?

The air cleaner, valve covers, breather and PCV cover were all chrome on a 426 wedge. Battery cables were black. Max Wedges covers were orange no matter what year. I will send a very clear photo of a highly detailed 426 in a 64 Savoy for
you to look at. The only difference in on the street wedge engines was the
throttle cable bracket. It was different for a 4 speed then an auto. Everything else was the same and I never found any difference between 64 and 65 neither.
Akron Don would know better , but I am pretty sure.

painted?

Plans are to change the A990 single headlight grill and hood with scoop to stockers, keeping the mini-tubs and big tires, as well as the deep oil pan, but, I've already changed the headers to '68-'69 manifolds, repainted the engine the proper turquoise, and I am putting the battery back to the stock position under the hood and removing the remote battery switch from
the rear of the car. By the way, what color were the stock battery cables?
