I was just wondering if I could use the slip yoke shaft until I fix the B&T unit. This Mopar is taking my money almost as fast as the ex, the difference being the Coronet is a better ride, and it doesn't nag........:) :) wris ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steven Charette" <stevec@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Warren, You would need to have the '65 style tailshaft and housing to usethe slip-spline shaft. B&T should work fine unless you plan to spend a lotof time on the back bumper over at Northern Michigan. We can rustle up the parts if you really want to convert to the slip spline. Has the snow melted up there yet? :P SC -----Original Message----- From: Merwin Wrisley [mailto:vulcan@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, April 05, 2010 8:55 PM To: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: Trans Question Steve, I have a ball and trunnion shaft in my 65 Coronet, and has a tron boot. I also have a D-shaft out of a 65 Coronet 361 727 trans. Will this shart work in place of the B&T unit? Anyway it's the same setup with a u-loint yoke on the front instead of the B&T flange. The yoke splines onto the tailshaft, and a bolt goes in through it into the center of the tailshaft. This driveshaft is two piece with a rubber mounted bearing in the middle. I'm guessing the front yoke is bolted on to stabilize that two piece driveshaft. I haven't tried slipping a standard yoke on there to see if it works. See the picture here for the 1960 to 1964 Imperialversion.http://www.naimy.net/forsale/1960_imperial_2_pc_drive_shaft.htm The picture shows a two piece but with a B&T. The two piece 1965driveshaft had a regular u-joint up front instead of the B&T iirc.Anyway, yup, the trans itself if a good ol' TorqueFlite and modifiable.
