RE: Car Club Ideas

One thing we planned to try with a drag-strip start-up club was reaction
time racing.

Use a reaction time practice box, make it as elaborate as the parts you can
borrow (tree, display, etc). If you've been to the Indy Cylinder head show
in Indianapolis in March you've seen it done.

Charge a couple of bucks for 3 "time trials", then set up a full 32 position
eliminator. There will be a line in the "staging lanes" waiting to make
time trials. Pay the winner some portion of the proceeds, or pay back as
many places as you wish.

We were going to set it up as a winter league, and some members even wanted
to make it a touring league, hitting a different venue (bar) every week,
taking on locals in the process. I'm sure with spirits added to the mix
you'd have a tough time getting some people to stop making time trials.

It would take some work but it should bring in good numbers every time, and
it's a great way to promote the club.

Subject: Car Club Ideas

I'm looking for some fund raising ideas for our local car club of which I'm
the president...Sun City Cruisers in Rising Sun, MD. The not very motivated
group thinks that a dance (which we literally make a few dollars with) is a
good idea and I'm tired of this waste of time.

We have 2 car shows each year that we do pretty well with, but it seems like
a very few people end up doing all of the work. I'm looking for any ideas
that anyone might have that might get people motivated about the club, and
make some money to boot. We are non profit and donate quite a bit of our $
to local charities.

Any suggestions you might have would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
