Re: Car Club Ideas

The club out here in Vegas is no annual cost. We dont do fund-raising. Most of the meetings are free, or cruises. The president owns the website and has very low costs for it. The only thing that usually costs is the yearly poker run that we do, starting in Henderson and working our way around the valley, and that is like $20 and includes dinner and pays for prizes. I guess in Vegas, we are lucky because Mopars at the Strip is the big yearly show. Then a big BBQ at one of the members large house/workshop with enough parking for 40 or so cars, I think that was like $40. Outside of the car-club, there's weekly get togethers at the Santa Fe Station parking structure where 40 or 50 of us get together to hang out with our old car's. Everything from 30's to 2000's is represented. Just a place to go out and get to on a Sunday. Cost = Free. Casino is glad to have us there. No trouble, nor big cleanup invovled.

On 2nd Tuesday of each month, Alliante Station has a monthly show/shine as well. Then there's others that happen around the valley all year long if you like to go to the formal judged shows.

Any club I've been involved with -- car or otherwise -- that seems to be the case.

The Houston Mopar Club's 2008 show raised $2,000.00 that went to 4 charities. The event turnout was in good weather (always helps!) but also they had a good crowd show up because the show invited all makes and models, not just Mopars. The show was themed to the holiday in October, Halloween. Having all makes diluted the Mopar brand somewhat, but there were a lot of nice cars and people there that would not have come otherwise. Not many Mopars compared to other brands. Plus the charities got more $$ that way too.

We have 2 car shows each year that we do pretty well with, but it seems like a very few people end up doing all of the work.
