I got 20oz of transmission fluid in.. the top lower about a foot, as per Herb's advice, waited about 15 mins. and it lowered another foot.. at this point I brought it back up and sucked the tran fluid out with the device Herb explained how to make (pull out more gunk) I did this a couple of times until the fluid looked good.. refilled up again, and went through the process of moving it down about one foot at a time (it stopped on it own), wait 10 minutes, and move again. when it got to the half way point, it would move up and down with out a problem.. and no more weird noises. it works like a champ now.. I can rasie and lower the top at will :) thanks to everyone here, specially Herb.. this is the best forum I've ever been on! Here is the result of your advice http://www.frappr.com/?a=viewphoto&id=5591207&pid=10965278 now on to repairing the interior :) Steve Mick wrote: > > Bob, if it will ease your mind any- In my dump trucks, we used auto > tranny > fluid as hydraulic oil in the hoist cylinder.
