Re: Re-upholstering? ? ?




I agree 100%, I like to put my covers in the sun or someplace warm before working on them. Also when I do a headliner, I put it outside in the sun with the windows up. It seems to make the shrink of the vinyl more uniform and is alot safer than doing it with a heat gun like I have to do in the winter when I do most of my customers cars.

I am also an upholsterer (28 years) and everything Steve says is great but I'll add to this. When working with vinyl I always like to be in the warm sun, it makes the vinyl more workable and it lays so nice

What is that yellowish glue (and where can one get it)

which is used on our cars for gluing vinyl to steel

surfaces, eg door panel assemblies. This stuff appears to be brushed on, and looks a little like yellow

weatherstrip adhesive. If not this stuff, what do you recommend. Thanks very much,
