Hi Bob, I did that in the past on the other cars. The swinging of the door on closing and the abrupt stop is causing the G-force of that motor to try and rip off that casting…
I need to order up a full set of leathers and washers for the car. I am going to see of I can find another mechanism for that door and rebuild it and swap out the one that is a mess.
You can see in the photo that the brace was cut. Also, the hole and the long screws in the gear box. All in all a mess.
a strap from the door frame to the motor so the diecast is supported.
Thanks Bob, I am going to need a complete set of the washers as they appear to be completely gone. I will order as full set for the car as sooner or later I will do all the windows.
I HATE the diecast housing on these regulators. I had nothing but trouble with them in the past with the bottom of the housings cracking off at the motor mounts. Going through this again was one of my largest concerns on purchasing another
64.
I have contemplated having the housing scanned and seeing what it would cost to have a set machined from billet aluminum.

Hey Mr D;
I may have a naked 64 door out in the shop, will check later this week when I get a minute.
The window gear, maybe you mean this one:

John Grady sells his parts through Forward Look Parts, see

Give a shout if you need anything else.

Hi All, I took the door panel off for the first time on the 300K. It is a good news bad news sort of thing.
The steel inside the door and down on the bottom of it looks like it left the factory last month. Stellar. The door panel has some warping on the bottom, but I think I can wet it and press it back to flat.
The window regulator is another story.
Someone with little knowledge got in there and really screwed it up. The one thing I know for sure is the gear is bad. I did not see it on the club website. Is the person who was making the gears in the tech section sill making or have
them?
Also, if anyone has a door panel off on a ’63 or ’64 could I trouble you for a photo? I think someone cut and messed with the brackets that hold the motor and regulator to the webbing. I photo would help me to figure out what it should
look like.
Thanks, James
