RE: {Chrysler 300} Drivers power window rats nest 300K

Can someone confirm for me that the mechanism (gear box and motor mount) is MOPAR 1963-827 ?

I found one for $350 and want to make sure that it is the part before I try and order it. Also in the master parts book it says that the front door mechanism is the same side-to-side but my memory is that they were side specific which makes me wonder if I have the wrong part number from the book.

Hi Bob, I did that in the past on the other cars. The swinging of the door on closing and the abrupt stop is causing the G-force of that motor to try and rip off that casting…

I need to order up a full set of leathers and washers for the car. I am going to see of I can find another mechanism for that door and rebuild it and swap out the one that is a mess.

You can see in the photo that the brace was cut. Also, the hole and the long screws in the gear box. All in all a mess.

One thing many of us have done is rig up

a strap from the door frame to the motor so the diecast is supported.

I HATE the diecast housing on these regulators. I had nothing but trouble with them in the past with the bottom of the housings cracking off at the motor mounts. Going through this again was one of my largest concerns on purchasing another 64.

I have contemplated having the housing scanned and seeing what it would cost to have a set machined from billet aluminum.

Also, if anyone has a door panel off on a ’63 or ’64 could I trouble you for a photo? I think someone cut and messed with the brackets that hold the motor and regulator to the webbing. I photo would help me to figure out what it should look like.
