[Chrysler300] Thoughts on Diamondback's proposed 235/75R14 tires.



Some have pointed out that Goodyear provided the original tires on 300’s, particularly the nylon Blue Streak race-grade tires.  Can anyone advise the brand and model of the rayon 8.00 or 8.50x14 tires on the ’64 300K?  Matching the original brand would make the tires a little more authentic.  It would be a good idea to have a high speed rating if one anticipate standing on it.  The table below probably won’t make it through the server filters, but S-rated tires are good for a continuous 112 MPH, T:118; U:124; H:130; V:149, Z: 149+; W:168; (W):168+; Y: 186 and (Y): over 186 MPH.  The specifications don’t speak to the occasional short-duration high speed run many letter cars experience.  Speed ratings seem pretty hard to find in the tire catalogs.

I want to get the Diamond Back 14s for my C. Let me know when available and I’ll go for 5 with 2.5” WW preferably via Michelin or Bridgestone if possible. I have the wheels from Tony Rinaldi’s project boxed in the attack for the new tires. See you in Lake George! Rob

For those of you still looking to go with the Diamond Backs, here is the 
latest word as of today. The 235/75R_15_s should be available yet this 
year. And they are looking at approximately March 2012 for the 
235/75R_14_ size. Of course these will be in any whitewall width you want.

After all the stories we went through a few months ago, the choice is 
pretty clear. If you've got a trailer queen, Coker or American Classic 
is the only way to go. They are very original looking and will score 
well with the judges. But they're not a tire you want to drive - 
they'll blow out on the highway. If you want to hit the American Road, 
it will be worth every penny to spring for a grand on Diamond Backs as 
they only use Level 100 tires.

I'll let you know when I hear further on the 235-14 progress.
