I’m shopping tires for my 300K. The build card indicates 8.50 X 14 Rayon tires came on it and this is consistent with the 8.50 x 14 being standard on ram cars and optional on other K’s. American Classic seems to have a P235/75R15 with 1” WSW. See: http://www.americanclassictires.com/types-of-whitewall-tires/75-series-narrow-whitewall/ Lucas and others retail them. See: http://www.lucasclassictires.com/RADIALS031811_1749.htm $261, each at Lucas or Coker. This site has a comprehensive set of dimensions for tires, old and new: http://carnut.com/specs/tires.html 8.50/8.55 x 14 height: 28.1”, P225/75R14: 27.3”, P235/75R14: 27.9” (American Classic spec’s: 27.87”) It would be good to hear from anyone having installed a set of P235/75R-14’s on a 1964 300K. Any problems with difficulty in balance, premature wear or failure? rubbing on suspension? alignment issues? Appearance? Would be good to know before buying five of these overpriced tires. American Classic seems to have a monopoly on this size. BTW, I had one ruined tire on the 1964 300K I just took delivery on, so I had it removed from the wheel. The wheel is stamped on the inside with 14X6K-1 and, underneath the size, the numbers 2 and 64—and nearby the word “Kelsey”. As the car was shipped 12/12/63, the 2 64 possible date mark is puzzling. Having no spare for the K, I installed the spare from my ’55 C300. The 3” WSW L78-15 on a wire wheel looked pretty sharp! See Firestone, Cooper, Hankook, Khumo, maybe Toyo. Nothing in P225/75R14 (8.50-14/8.55-14). Not much in P235/75R14 (See Coker / American Classic). Diamondback mostly adds whitewalls to existing blackwall carcasses (Michelin, Goodrich, or whatever) - you can pretty much get any whitewall width - but you have to have a blackwall tire as a starting point and currently there is nothing in the bigger 14 inch to start with.
