Re: [Chrysler300] Info Re: Car Dollies/Skates for Chrysler 300's

-Car Dollies for heavier Cars.
I tried a set of "Car Skates" that I purchased at a local arena Tool Sale.
They were rated at 1000 pounds per unit. My 47 Packard wouldn't budge.
(A 47 Packard Custom Super Clipper is about 4500 lbs.) I needed to move the car
around the garage and out side on the driveway. The sheet rockers were going
to finish off the front half of the garage.

Time to bite the bullet and get some Go-Jacks.
Checked the internet for prices and got sticker shock!
Was about to write the check and saw an ad for Harbor Freight.
Checked out their web site and they sold Go-Jack knock offs.
Rated at 1500 lbs per unit and priced at 150 / Pair.
Ordered on line and UPS dropped them off at the house.

They work great. The car moves nicely on the dollies.
One person can move the car around readily.

If you order something You get Catalogs and sale fliers about every 2 weeks.
Always fun to look at tools and shop equipment.

The garage is great. Just need to get some heat in for next winter.
We have had some cold snaps this winter. Last three nights -15 to -20.
Should be +30 by Saturday. The insulated and sheet rocked garage is
always about 20 to 30 degrees warmer than outside.
By the end of March will be able to get some garage time in.

Does anyone have any recommendations or cautions to share with regards to car shop dollies? I would love to be able to move my cars around the garage more easily when they aren't in running order and push them right into a corner as needed.

I would prefer to purchase the hydraulic style as I'm sure jacking the car on and off the regular skate type would prove to be more work than its worth sometimes and I'd rather not risk scratching the suspension or frame rails. Costs may be prohibitive with the hydraulic though........are they that much better? Can anyone recommend an online/mail order supplier that carries a quality product?

  Thank you.Ryan Hill
