Hi Ray, On motors up to at least 66, the motor must be grounded to work. If you connect the two wires to positive & negative, you will make lots of sparks and likely damage the motor. To check a motor, connect the - to ground and the + to either connection on the motor. Switching them will reverse the motor. I've only seen un-grounded motors on much newer cars. On the 57-61 regulators the motor part un-bolts from the drive unit on the regulator, and can be removed without clamping the regulator. If you need to take off the drive unit, you will have to clamp it. My 66 Imperial has the motor and drive are one piece, and I clamp them in a vice to remove the motor. 300ly, Don ----- Original Message ----- From: Ray Jones <hurst300@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: Kenneth Wilson <jblken@xxxxxxxxxxx> Cc: <Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>; Brandt Jimerson <brandt300g@xxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, July 01, 2005 9:33 PM Subject: Re: [Chrysler300] '61 G driver power window motor. Any out there!? As I recall, the Left Front is the same motor as the Right Rear and the Right Front is the same as the Left Rear. So a given car will have 2 different motors, the opposite of each other. And I'm sure there are several different looking ones, but they may interchange. Check the mounting holes and the gear position/size. And I also seem to recall that the motors are not grounded, The direction of the current flow is what makes them go up or down. This means you connect your Positive lead to one terminal and the Neg to the other to see if the motor is good, reverse the leads to see it turn the other way.
