I have to disagree here.  I've been tracking this and
have noted several '61s with the button.  Including my
G.  Doesn't seem to have any pattern as far as a
mid-year change.  Chrysler was probably using two
vendors all through '61 MY...

I received this email the other day, and smelled a rat. Any one have any 
ideas as to how to check this guy out. Whats the best way to warn other
car 
sellers to watch out for this kind of thing. I was thinking of sending it

Why not talk to the garage people and see what they did to install this
lift? I think you'll find they just drilled holes in the existing concrete
and inserted expansion plugs and bolted it down.

Sherwood, I agree with Ray.  I think what you are talking about with
concrete piers is really overkill.  When I purchased my lift, I looked at
a couple installed in car dealerships.  They were just positioned where
needed and bolted down.  If you do an analysis of the footprint of each
column and calculate maximum load (mine is 7000#) that is only 3500# per
column.  My mounting pads have a floor contact area of 316 square inches
per column.  3500# / 316=11.07 #s/square inch.  11lbs per square inch is
not much load on pretty much any slab. 

If you are pouring a new slab and want to make it a bit thicker at the
installation point, fine.  This may also help avert settling cracks that
typically happen in new slabs after a few years.  Making it two feet
thick, however, is just not necessary.

  Is your F a late production car? Ways to tell would be "floating" ps
mount, G style console glove boxes (raised area on base to keep top in
alignment, instead of the little pins), small A/C clutch, and a few other
things my foggy mind can't think of right now (rebuild both carbs on my G
today, 3 cans of brake clean!). That might explain the 1 MPH graduations.
If
none of the above, I would suspect it was changed.

Don't bother checking this out. It's a scam. Report it. There was a
story like this involving a '62 Buick Special about a month ago. The key
is the cashier's check. Makes you think it's legit, but by the time that
check comes back bad from the bank it's drawn on, you've already been
had and your car's gone.

Note the "urgent" part, too. What's urgent about our hobby?

I can't count the number of phony email solicitations I've gotten
claiming to be someone from Africe who has to move money into my bank
account. I haven't even replied, so I haven't gotten to the part where I
have to send them money yet.
