The car had no D-500 tag (or holes for one), but the more I think about it, the more sure I am it was a B-block car. Maybe it got changed before I got it ? OK, ... here's a question .... will a B-block drop right on to the engine horns for a 325 ? I am POSITIVE it was a clean swap without any welding. It had been in a flood and allowed to sit, so the drivetrain was toast, so I pulled it. That was 20 years ago or more, so my memory is a little fuzzy, but I am pretty sure I saved a bunch of pieces off the engine for reuse on the replacement (361). >> >> B. >> >> %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% >> >> >> On Nov 22, 2011, at 11:21 AM, Eastern Sierra Adjustment Svc wrote: >> >> >>> Don't think that anybody's mentioned this, on this thread, but >>> the 350 B block was the standard engine on the 1958 Custom Royal >>> and Custom Sierra wagons. >>> >>> The 361 single-4 bbl engine was the standard D500, with the >>> dual carb 361 as the Super D500 engine. >>> >>> Neil Vedder >>> >>> >>> >>> eddee@xxxxxxxxxxxxx wrote: >>> >>>> HI DAN >>>> No bearing caps??? >>>> That is NG >>>> You will have to get some from a 361 or 383 and have the block align bored to make it useable. >>>> >>>> The 350 was one year only---1958 >>>> It was put in the GOLDEN COMMANDO PLYMOUTH--(could be ANY MODEL!!) >>>> >>>> It was also used in MOSTLY the 2bbl version in base DESOTOS and MOSTLY a 4bbl version for DODGE and DODGE station wagons >>>> >>>> I have 2 GOLDEN COMMANDO PLYMOUTH blocks,,,both are casting # of 1737629 >>>> That does not mean you dont have a 350. >>>> There may have been more than one casting time and place for the 350. >>>> The 361s had about 5 different casting numers throughout the years. >>>> >>>> On the front pad of the block,,,along with the sn,,,should be what it was used for >>>> ie: L-350 would be for the plymouth >>>> >>>> Is your block UNUSED?
