Hi All;
I've been with J.C. Taylor for 25 years I guess. Never had to have a
claim. However, some years ago, maybe on another list, this issue came
up about driving the cars. The President of Taylor said that they
didn't care about driving the cars for pleasure, just didn't want you
using it as a primary car. And, more importantly, weren't worried about
you parking in WalMart's lot. Y'all might check the fine print on your
policies, they usually say something like "Must be under owners control
or in his sight at all times".
I have my '70 Hurst, '66 Chrysler 300 Conv. and my '79 Li'l red Express
wit them and it cost me $202. a year. i have them valued kinda low for
a total of about $8K, but it's not much per k to cover them. The real
savings is that you don't have to insure EACH car for Liability. After
all, you can only drive 1 at a time. that's where the cost comes in
from your regular policies, I have 3 regular vehicles covered with 2
drivers, but have to pay full liability for each.

I also have Hagerty like Bill. Have been happy with them, but never
have had to submit a claim.
According to what their website says "Hagerty provides coverage
for vehicles that are used on an occasional basis -- e.g. club
functions, exhibitions, organized meets, tours and limited pleasure
driving. "
I signed on with them back in 1996 maybe. But I specifically remember
the reason I signed on with them was their slogan of "we insure cars
for people who want to drive them" and when I filled out the
application, there was a list for mileage driven with 2 columns.
Pleasure and shows. I put 90% pleasure and 10% shows. I guess I'll have
to go back and look at my policy.
Now that being said if it is true, is there anyone who insures cars for
people who actually want to drive them, in a mostly non show, but
pleasure drive fashion, or even to work, etc. I wouldn't mind paying
full price insurance if I could drive the car at any time. In NJ if you
go to a regular car policy all you can get is liability because it's an
old car with no book value.
So I guess the question is does anyone offer a agreed value policy with
no driving limitations.
Right now I do drive my cars to work and back some days, but being it's
summer, there's always the excuse of taking it to a cruise night, the
shop, etc on the way home from work....
