Re: [FWDLK] Car insurance new thread

Nick, I have also, thank the Lord, never had a claim w/Hagerty, but have spoke with folks who have, it went smooth as snot off a doorknob for them!!!! That, and the fact that the value is an agreed upon number was good. So many I looked into wanted a written appraisal. As you can see in a previous thread, none of my cars are high-dollar cars, but they suit me just fin(e).

Subject: [FWDLK] Car insurance new thread

(To keep from hijacking the other thread, I started a new one)

I also have Hagerty like Bill. Have been happy with them, but never have had to submit a claim.

According to what their website says "Hagerty provides coverage for vehicles that are used on an occasional basis -- e.g. club functions, exhibitions, organized meets, tours and limited pleasure driving. "

I signed on with them back in 1996 maybe. But I specifically remember the reason I signed on with them was their slogan of "we insure cars for people who want to drive them" and when I filled out the application, there was a list for mileage driven with 2 columns. Pleasure and shows. I put 90% pleasure and 10% shows. I guess I'll have to go back and look at my policy.

Now that being said if it is true, is there anyone who insures cars for people who actually want to drive them, in a mostly non show, but pleasure drive fashion, or even to work, etc.  I wouldn't mind paying full price insurance if I could drive the car at any time. In NJ if you go to a regular car policy all you can get is liability because it's an old car with no book value.

So I guess the question is does anyone offer a agreed value policy with no driving limitations.

Right now I do drive my cars to work and back some days, but being it's summer, there's always the excuse of taking it to a cruise night, the shop, etc on the way home from work....
