hey neil,
the only tests you can do on an electronic system would be an impedence
test on the reluctor [pickup coil] which has a window of ohms it should fit
into- less tells of a coil crossing or just plain defect. as for the
module- they either work or they dont- always be sure they are solidly
grounded- a floating module or mod mounted to plastic will not work....
if you're using a used stock module- just check the silicone-like sealer on
the underside of the module- some stock mod's material melts out by chemical
breakdown- which doesnt mean the module is bad, but it will lead to corrosion of
the component board, and probably lowers the rate of heat dissipation of the
unit...
thats about it i'd say. you can also check coil resistance... but
they're also a "works or doesn't" item
