Ayone know if there is a place to get an assembled rear center section for a 8 3/4" rear with 3.31 gears?
I had another mopar tech expert test drive my car today, and he thinks the vibration I have could be coming from either the rear diff assembly (bearings, etc) or the rear transmission bearing. So now I am doing research into parts availability and pricing in anticipation of having to replace stuff.
Given the cost of getting someone to tear into the rear assembly for rebuild, and the scarcity of parts for the original foward look center section, it was recommended to me that I might just want to buy a complete assembly (later model 742 rear) and swap it in. The thing is, it doesn't look like you can get the 3.31 ratio that my car currently has (and I'd rather not have to pick another ratio and then deal with the speedometer gearing issue).
Does anyone know where I could get a "new" 3.31 rear assembly (in the event that I need one)? If I am going to get into this thing, I just as soon go new if possible. I've tried some retail sites like summit, jegs, etc, and precision gear, motive gear, and richmodn gear's web sites....no 3.31 ring and pinions even available.
