I have
a 1994 Dodge B250/2500 full size conversion van with the 318 engine. I
think that it has the 3.23 rear end. It now has over 100,000
miles. Still runs great and gets 16.5 to 17 mpg on the road.
Lots of pulling power too. I can hook up my 18 foot car hauling
trailer (around 1700 pounds), put a 4000 pound car on it, and pull it all with
no difficulty. Of course, it goes slower on steep mountain grades, but
even there, it does the trick. When I am towing this kind of load, I still
get around 10 to 11 mpg. Best regards, Jim
I'm just curious as to why the mileage is
unacceptable ?
I remember earlier trucks or anything with a v/8.
If you got 12 mpg, you were getting good mileage.
That's also about the mileage I get with my
pickup truck with a 318. I thought 17 was pretty good considering it's a truck
and it's 4wd.
Are there other v/8 gasoline trucks that get more
than 17mpg highway ? If there are, I'd like to know who makes them.
Alot also has to depend on what set of gears are
inthe vehicle also. Trucks tend to have a lower gear for towin/hauling, which
decreases their mileage.
