Re: [FWDLK] Happy motoring

It looks like you have about everything covered. I would inspect the U joints
and repack them by hand, if necessary if you still have the original type with
no grease fitting. While you are repacking them, you can inspect the center
cross for any wear, it usually appears as straight lines or divots in the center
cross where the end caps ride, if there is any wear showing at all, go ahead and
replace the U-Joint. Also, check the grease in the rear end and the condition of
all wheel bearings, repack them also if needed. Check the condition of the
generator brushes and bearings, or just the bearings if you have switched to an
alternator. And check anything that requires lubrication, especially grease.
Even on a low mileage car, as old as our vehicles are, any original grease has
probably gone hard or dried up. I can't think of anything else off the top of my
head at the moment, but as long as the maintenence has been taken care of, I
believe that car will make it just fine. One warning, as you drive through the
Blueridge Parkway or any rural area, look out for DEER!!!!! I think they have a
death wish or something. Especially if you do any night driving or in the fog.
They will just walk right out in front of you.
