I guess I'll add to the pot on the restoration of Furys. Most of you have never heard the blow-by-blow details because my '57 Fury's restoration started in 1990 and was "finished" last year. But of course, they're never finished. During my original restoration, the wiring all looked fine, and I figured since I had already spent waaaayyyyy too much $$$$ I'd just use the original wiring. No real problems have turned up, just some irritating little quirks, like gas gauge (the gauge itself is brand new NOS) not working, front left turn signal, backup lights, and license plate light all not working. So now Mr. Finzzz is getting all new wiring. The lesson learned??? Every corner that you cut, will come back to bug you (at the very least, could be worse if you cut corners on, say, brakes!!!) eventually. Do it right the first time. . . Mark mjh '57 Fury |
