Lug Bolts? My 56 DeSoto Firedome (12" Drums) has Lug Nuts with left & right hand threads as mentioned before. The car was recovered from a Storage Lot & the previous owner was a "Take it to the dealer for EVERYTHING. So, I doubt that anything was change since she was built.
I've struggled with the Mark II VW "Hub Centric"Wheels with Lug Bolts & would never go back. Its been my experience in 56 if the car had the smaller brakes you had bolts and the bigger brakes had nuts. The rear differentials I've seen in 6 cyl cars had bolts and v8 cars had nuts.
