Re: [FWDLK] Parking Brake Adjustment

There was also a thread, here, or over on the FWDLK website, about how best to re-contaminate contaminated
brake shoes.

Fearless Leader has said that a simple burning of the shoes (with the shoes removed from the car) via lighter fluid, etc, will effectively clean them . Brent Burger says that he's double-boiler boiled the crap from shoe linings.

Also, synthetic rear end lube should not be used on our cars (or, even on the new-ones, according to a friend's dealer, on his 300 Heritage model) as it works too well, and escapes thru seals and gets onto the brakes, which,
on our cars, causes the rear wheels to lock up.

If it pulls to one side, the problem may also be that one of the wheel cylinders is leaking. I had a very touchy situation at Carlisle this year with a leaking right hand wheel cylinder. Stopping was a real challenge. I nursed my 56 Fury home and replaced the seal in the leaky cylinder and replaced all four front shoes before it would stop smoothly and evenly.
