Re: ***Possible Spam*** IML: 1957 Chrysler 300 C Hemi

Hello All;
  It should be added that even in the case of the engine the 300C is different then the Imperial, except maybe in displacement. The 300's Hemi had solid lifters with adjustable rocker arms, it also had a special hardened steel crankshaft. I don't know about the block but it may be different as well. The rear end and transmission are probably the same aside from bolt pattern. Everything else about these cars is out in out Chrysler.
  However I should just say that I would not be ashamed of having a 300 parked next to my Imperial and I doubt whether anyone back in the day would have a hangup either. That being said it is not an Imperial and this is the Imperial mailing list.

        A 57 Chrysler 300 is an extremely desirable car; they came either as a 2 door hardtop or a convertible.  No sedans, no 4 door hardtops, no wagons.  However, it is not an Imperial.
        What is the difference between a 57 Chrysler and a 57 Imperial you ask?   The 57 Imperial used the same basic mechanicals like block and transmission, as the 57 Chrysler, but the body and probably the frame have about as much in common between Chrysler and Imperial as between Chrysler and Cadillac.  There are thousands of picture books that show you 57 Imperials and 57 Chryslers.  There is absolutely no way to confuse them, once you have seen a picture.

Subject: ***Possible Spam*** IML: 1957 Chrysler 300 C Hemi

Greetings,

    A friend of mine has a lead on a 1957 Chrylser 300 C Series with a Hemi engine that is for sale. I've been told everything is all original, never been restored, still runs and is an excellent project car. The model is either a sedan or hardtop not a convertible
     First off, is this considered an Imperial or a Chrysler? What's the difference between an Imerial and a Chrysler? And are these cars fairly rare or pretty common?

Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!
