I just though I would mention that I have a Carter ThermoQuad on my 68 Convertible. It is off of a 1977 Dodge 1 ton truck with a 360. I had to rebuild it, and I had it on another car with a 360. After some tuneing I was very pleased with the performance. When I bought my 68 it had a holley on it. I have no idea what kind, but I think it was whatever came on those cars. I replaced it with an AFB from a 67 Imperial which worked OK, but the car always sounded like it was not getting the full potential out of it's engine. It would light the rear tires in the garage nicely, but with the gas to the floor at about 4500 RPMs it sounded like it could use more carburator. The car has dual exhaust as well. Anyway, I bought a thermoquad compatable intake, and swapped the carb off the 360 onto the convertible's 440. The difference is like night and day. I didn't even have to adjust the idle. The convertible has never been the same since. On one occasion this summer I let my best friend's husband drive the car and he really supprised someone in a new V8 powered mustang. I have been in the convertible doing 143 MPH on the highway, although I have never driven it that fast personaly. The car was still gaining speed when my friend decided he was scared enough. I think earlyer imperials are somewhat under carburated personaly. In case anyone asks, I also noticed a slight gas mileage improvement with the thermoquad. I think the reason for this is smaller primary barrels. This also makes it easyer to get a really nice smooth Idle. -Hailey On Wed, 24 Nov 2004 14:37:44 -0600, Alex Ferch <alxf@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > Hmmm...........more good info.
