Re: IML: Door speaker access / Vinyl half-top (1993)

John,

I have a 1990, and had a couple rattle issues with my door panels.
Suffice it to say that I've heard of people that would rather replace
the door than remove that panel, but it is possible. In my
experience removing that grill, I removed as many screws as I could
find and then started prying just in front of the seat controls,
between the two panels. There are a number of clips that hold that
panel on, but as I recall it does come off with just some traditional
chrysler door-panel clips. You might pick yourself up a speaker from
the junkyard, and see if that solves your problem. Also, you might be
looking at a connector farther up behind the dash that might feed both
speakers and some other controls (i doubt it's the door connector if
a) the other door controls work right and b) because your dash
speakers is out too.) Also, you might have a connector on the back of
the stereo loose..

Hmm...another thought that popped into my head...The speaker fader
joystick might either be bad, have a bad solder joint, or something
like that. Wiggle it, see if you even get clicks, pops, or something
else out of them. Listen for some hiss from the speaker, that will
tell you if they're getting any power at all.
