Welcome John,

I'm not very familiar with front wheel drive Imperials, but I've owned 
several FWD Mopars.  The Infinity stereos often had powered speakers.  This 
meant an amp at the speaker is likely your problem.  On most FWD Mopars the 
speaker grilles just popped off on little clips and the speaker could then 
be unscrewed.  I don't know about Imperials though.  I'm sure somebody that 
knows better will chime in.
