On my '72 I was able to remove it through the glove box, after removing the
glove box liner, I loosened the two screws closest to the driver's side, removed
the two screws closest to the passenger side and pulled it out, the set-up in my
71 looks identical, but I can only guess on the '70 - it should be close. The
clock's contact points are probably fried, gently pry back the tabs that hold
the cover on the back of the clock and clean the points up with a small
file, or fine sandpaper.
