It was nice to get several thumbs up while driving my beautiful
car out on the streets. I always feel like I am driving the supreme 1950's
automobile, and then I realize, I am!

There is only one beautiful car in the world, and every owner has
it. :-)
I'm glad you are sorting through your carburetor issues. I'd be
inclined to agree with your mechanic about the valve, but this is your car and
your learning curve. I imagine replacement carbs, either new or
rebuilds, are relatively easy to obtain. You might want to consider
getting another one and trying it. Its always good to have a
spare.
