Although already old news for most of you, I just wanted to confirm that the IML server was dead from about 2:00pm 1/9/03 until about 4:00pm 1/10/03 (PST). It was one of those 'Three-Mile Island" kind of accidents where several normally trivial problems occurred at the same time, causing one great big runaway problem. I took advantage of the downtime and installed a new hard drive (generously donated by Mike Trettin), so we have space to expand again. I also improved the hardware a bit to facilitate backup procedures and reduce future downtime. The good news is that no data was lost during this "meltdown" - just the Operating System was affected, the bad news is that it was the longest single outage the club (and my server) has ever had that I can recall since it fired up in 1997. I want to thank Dick B for his recent posting and kind words, it is especially gratifying to me coming from someone who has done so much for this mailing list over the years and is an all-around great guy... Thinking back, Dick is actually the only IML member I have ever met - I will never forget my visit and Dick's kindness. Manuel
