unsubscribing - is bulk e mail really the problem?

Hello Everyone.

When Russell and I joined this online club, we read and understood the fact there would be large amounts of e mail sent to us every day!  We opted to receive the individual messages rather than receive them in digest form.  We enjoy reading the posts as they appear on the computer screen.  Most of what is posted has been interesting and some (pertaining to our '65 convert.) have been a Godsend regarding the frame-off restoration we are involved in.  We have "gotten to know" many individuals because of the way the e mail comes to us. Therefore individual messages are no problem for us.  We have dsl and a computer with a large amount of memory and "storage space".  I am ashamed to say, there are 1,380 deleted messages in the delete box as I write this message.  I need to get going and delete them permanently.

If the truth be known, many who talk of unsubscribing may be doing so for other reasons.  Their lives may be busy and there is little time to sort through the messages.  There has been some hostility on the list since we joined and that may also be a reason.  I personally received some a while back but I "got over it" and moved on.  Some may say that the "hostility" I speak of is just differing opinions.  Opinions can differ but often times opinions may be stated as fact leading to anger and hurt feelings.  I would just ask that we keep the tone of our messages (as former President Bush used to say) kinder and gentler.  And also I would ask that everyone remember that this is a club for Imperials of ALL years, not just for a select few years.  If everyone would think before writing, or as Kenyon Wills mentioned, let the message "rest a while" before sending it, maybe some of the stronger toned or heavily opiniated posts might be deleted before they are sent.

This is only my opinion along with some observations.  Russell and I depend on the generosity of many of this club's members to help us with our Imperial's restoration.  We both realize, bulk mail or not, opinions, strong posts,  what have you, this is still a great club made up of a lot of great people.  We are PROUD to be members!
