Skewed values of Imperials

First, Merry Christmas/Seasons Greetings ALL.

Ken,

Now wait a minute here ;)  I own a '60 Dodge Seneca, yep, a 4 door plain jane, slant 6, auto, no power nothing. In fact, except for the optional AM radio it is the taxi model. (I think I am going on that theme, and join the Professional Car Club) The 60 and 61 share much the same, but I like the 60 better because it has upright fins, although short, fins nonetheless. It was also first year unibody and slant six. I will admit it's not the first one of mine crowds come to, the still come. And OK to have opinion either way.

ABOUT THE SUBJECT ....VALUES

I agree with Neal, BUT, we, the owners of Imperial and Non Muscle Chrysler cars, play a role in the perpetuation of their values, we KNOW they're worth LESS than a Lincoln or Caddy, DON'T WE. I mean otherwise why would we continue to sell them so CHEAP!  I have participated in many live auctions and I have seen Imperials (and non muscle MoPar's) go for ridiculously low prices. We owners set the price, I have watched a few come thru with high reserve, some unsold after several auctions, but they usually sell higher that average, sometimes way higher. If your not under pressure why sell cheap? Guess its like the stock market, buy near the top and sell near or at the bottom. I have only under priced one Imperial I sold (3+years ago to an IMLer) in the last 15 years, because I needed to move it quick and because I was buying a way under valued 1938 Buick. I figured I got a terrific deal, I could pass on a good deal to make it happen fast.

On the Imperial subject, I am still looking for a prewar model, prefer 1938, not a major project, but an OK driver (or near) would be fine.

My .02
Ron

Hi,
My grandparents had a 61 Dodge Seneca and I really have no intention in
owning one.   A study in ugly is not the word for it.
