1959 Brakes. Sorry

Rex, dude, stop tripping.  This is an Imperial we are talking about.  There is no easier way.  Yes, you have to take the front wheels apart to remove the cylinders.  There are brake shoe adjusting nut on the back.  Um, these are your brakes.  It's only a small matter of life or death, so I would not spend too much time avoiding doing it right.  You need to find out why your wheels are grabbing to the left.  Adjusting the shoes will probably help, a little, but if you have a leak, or the shoes are worn down, you NEED to know.

Welcome to the worst part of an otherwise excellent car.

Hugh

PS Wait till you start having to fool with the rear brakes.  You will need a major hub puller.  Fun fun fun fun fun.

Subject: IML: 1959 Brakes

Hi Fellow Imperialists,

I have a question about removing and servicing the front brakes on my '59 Crown.  To replace the front cylinders recently I practically had to remove and dismantle the entire wheel to get the cylinders out.  I am sure there must have been an easier way.  I know I need a shop manual, but I am wondering what the "quick" method for removing the cylinders would be?  Then, how does one properly adjust those front brakes?  I do have brakes now, but they pull badly to the left.

Thanks in advance for the friendly advice!
