A lot of parts stores have this part (gear kit) for $25-$30. There is also
a Chrysler "improved" gear that I think goes for $48. I chose to use the
cheap, internet fix I learned from this very list. Usually only the three
spacers crumble. The rest of the gear is usually intact. Home Depot 1/2
inch diameter by 1/4 inch tall nylon spacers, from the Specialty Hardware
section, replace the three spacers. You may need to squeeze them with a
pliers once to get them to fit.
