Read in the IML archives about cleaning out your block by removing the core plugs. It's a messy job, but essential if you want your car to run as cool as it did when new. You'll have to buy a coolant filter to catch the crud you stir up doing this, but they're cheap, and will prevent transferring the loose bits back into your radiator!
