why do anything in engine repair halfway?just do a valve job on an old engine-more blow by for your efforts.just do rings and a hone -what about the ring lands pistons?what about cylinder out of round?put bearings on an old crank without at least having it polished?if you take any shortcuts you often end up with a new devil that you didn't have before.take a compression test and see if you have more than 10% difference in any cylinders.heat up your engine with the rad cap off pull the plugs,any wet?pump up the cooling system with the plugs out does the pressure hold ? ground the coil wire if it doesn't and then crank it over ,your leaking cyl will spit coolant if that's where it's going.if you have good comp. and your coolant system does hold pressure then just enjoy the old beast until you have the money-time to do it right.charlie 38 coupe.
