!927 Imperial brake problem



This sounds like the pedal linkage is too long.  There should be an
adjustment on it, to provide about 3/8 inch "free play" before the push rod
contacts the piston of the master cylinder.   If the rod is too long, the
pressure will build up continuously as the vent hole is not being exposed.
You say you have about 1 inch of free play, but I think you mean total pedal
travel before the brakes apply.  What I am talking about is pedal travel
before the push rod even contacts the piston.   Check it out and see if that
isn't the cause.
