Bill and Tammy;
If your door panels are flat, and not molded to some
wierd shape, then any decent upholstery shop can redo them for you. Usually
the backing of door panels in these old cars was made out of a thick
cardboard material called waterboard. It isn't too important what is used in
its place as long as an industrial sewing machine can stitch through
it.
I have heard of uphosterers using masonite, thin plywood,
or plastic sheeting in its place as long as the thickness is the same as the
original and that they can glue to it. I myself would use a thin piece of poplar
plywood or the plastic sheeting if water problems were a consideration as they
are more resistant to warpage then waterboard.
